How to grow Celery Tango Seeds

Starting Indoors: Celery Tango seeds can be started indoors about 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost date in your area. Use seed trays or small pots filled with a well-draining seed starting mix.

Sowing Seeds: Plant the celery Tango seeds about 0.5cm deep in the soil. Gently press the seeds into the soil surface and water lightly. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

Germination: Celery seeds can take 7-14 days to germinate. Keep the seed trays or pots in a warm location with temperatures around 21°C. Using a seedling heat mat can help speed up germination.

Transplanting: Once the celery seedlings have developed their first true leaves and are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots or cell trays. Keep the seedlings well-watered and gradually introduce them to outdoor conditions if they will be planted outside.

Outdoor Planting: After the last frost date has passed and the soil has warmed up, transplant the celery Tango seedlings into a sunny location in the garden. Celery prefers rich, moist soil with plenty of organic matter. Space the plants about 20 to 25 centimeters apart in rows spaced 45 to 60 centimeters apart.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist throughout the growing season. Celery requires regular watering to prevent the soil from drying out, but be careful not to overwater, as celery does not tolerate waterlogged conditions.

Hilling: As the celery plants grow, mound soil around the base of the plants to blanch the stalks and protect them from sunlight. This helps improve the flavor and tenderness of the celery stalks.

Harvesting: Celery Tango plants take about 115 days to reach maturity. It can be harvested when the stalks are firm and about 30 to 45 centimeters tall. Cut the outer stalks near the base of the plant, leaving the inner stalks to continue growing.  For best flavour and longer storage, water plants the day before harvesting.
