How to grow Snow Pea Norli Seeds

Snow Pea ‘Norli’ seeds are best sown directly outdoors from early spring (March–April) as soon as the soil can be worked, or started indoors 2–3 weeks earlier for an earlier harvest. They germinate well in cool conditions, with ideal temperatures between 8–15°C.

If starting indoors, use a well-draining seed tray or individual pots filled with seed starting mix. Sow seeds about 3–4 cm deep, water gently, and keep the soil lightly moist but not waterlogged during germination. Seedlings usually emerge within 7–14 days. Once they sprout, place them in a bright, cool location. If grown indoors, harden them off for about 7 days before transplanting outside.

Plant outdoors in a sunny location with fertile, well-drained soil. Space plants about 5–8 cm apart in rows 40–50 cm apart, or grow along a trellis or netting for support. Water regularly, especially during flowering and pod development.

Snow Pea ‘Norli’ is an early variety and typically reaches harvest in 55–65 days. Pick pods while they are flat, tender, and bright green to encourage continued production.

Additional tips:

  • Soaking seeds for 8–12 hours before planting can speed up germination.
  • Provide support such as netting or bamboo canes for straighter plants and easier harvesting.
  • Mulch to keep roots cool and retain moisture.
  • Good companion plants include carrots, radishes, lettuce, spinach, and beans. Avoid planting near onions or garlic.
  • Harvest frequently to extend the cropping period and improve yields.
