DESCRIPTION

Iberis umbellata ‘Rose Cardinal’, also known as annual candytuft, is a compact and floriferous plant that produces clusters of rich rose-pink flowers with a slightly domed shape. The blooms create a dense carpet of colour that works beautifully in borders, edging, and containers. Its neat, low-growing habit makes it especially useful for filling gaps and softening pathways or garden edges. Easy to grow and fast to flower, Iberis thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, performing well even in poorer soils. It is also attractive to pollinators, making it a good choice for wildlife-friendly and Mediterranean-style gardens.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

Sow Iberis umbellata ‘Rose Cardinal’ directly outdoors in early spring or autumn in mild climates, as it prefers cooler growing conditions and does not transplant well due to its taproot.

Lightly cover the seeds with soil and keep the area evenly moist until germination. Thin seedlings to about 20–25 cm apart to allow proper airflow and development.

Grow in a sunny position with well-drained soil; Iberis tolerates poorer soils and does not require heavy feeding. Water regularly while establishing, then reduce watering as plants become more drought tolerant. Removing spent flowers can encourage a longer flowering period.
