DESCRIPTION

Mediterranean Balcony Flowers – Heatwave Colour Mix is a vibrant seed collection designed for hot and sunny balconies, terraces, patios, and courtyard pots.

This collection brings together heat-loving, drought-tolerant annuals in rich Mediterranean tones: violet zinnias, salmon and purple gomphrena, papery helichrysum, delicate linum, scented verbena, warm flame marigolds, and compact golden rudbeckia. The result is a long-lasting summer display with layered colour, varied textures, and strong visual impact in containers.

Expect a lively mix of purple, salmon, coral, rose, apricot, orange-red, and restrained golden yellow. Upright blooms add height and structure, while trailing verbena softens pot edges and balcony boxes. Gomphrena and helichrysum add excellent texture and are also useful for cutting and drying.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

Sow indoors from late winter to spring, 4–8 weeks before the last frost, or direct sow outdoors once all risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed.

Use free-draining seed compost and keep moist but not waterlogged during germination. Transplant seedlings after hardening off, spacing according to the individual varieties. For balcony boxes and containers, use good-quality multipurpose compost with drainage holes.

Grow in full sun in a warm, sheltered position. Water regularly during dry spells, especially in pots, but allow the compost surface to dry slightly between waterings. Feed container-grown plants every 1–2 weeks during active flowering.

Pinch young plants where suitable to encourage bushier growth. Deadhead regularly to extend flowering and keep the display tidy. Helichrysum and gomphrena can be cut for drying when blooms are fully open.
