PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Also known as English Thyme, Thyme German Winter is a hardy, widely grown perennial. It has a shrubby and upright habit, and relatively deep roots, making it more drought-tolerant than other thymes. It is also the most cold-hardy of all the culinary thyme varieties. Leaves are small, round to needle-shaped on woody stems and flowers are pale pink.

Thyme is used fresh or dried to season meats, vegetables, soups and sauces and also as a tea herb.

How to grow thyme from seeds

Sow seed indoors in a greenhouse or on a warm windowsill, and don't move plants outside until summer. Or, plant outside when temperatures are 18 C or warmer.

Thyme likes a light, well-draining soil with some well-composted material. Cover seed lightly with fine soil and keep moist during germination. When the seedlings are about 5cm tall, thin and set plants outside when it is warm and after all danger of frost.
