Scabiosa atropurpurea 'Fire King' has fully double, lightly scented pin cushion flower heads which are a bright shade of burgundy red. Scabiosa makes excellent cut flowers because of their long vase life. Scabiosa Fire King works great as a filler for borders.
It prefers in full sun and well-drained soil but can deal with some shade. Cut or deadhead blooms to prolong flowering or leave on so that the plant will self-seed. The birds also love scabiosa seeds!
