How to grow Craspedia Seeds
Craspedia is a distinctive flowering plant known for its round yellow blooms, which are excellent for fresh floral arrangements and dried flower crafts.
Sowing Craspedia Seeds
Scatter the Craspedia seeds evenly over the soil surface. Press them lightly into the soil, but do not bury them too deeply because they need light for germination.
Light & Temperature
Choose a location that receives direct sunlight for at least 6–8 hours per day. Craspedia seeds germinate best when the temperature is around 21–24°C.
Prepare the Soil
Choose a well-draining pot or garden bed with fertile soil.
Covering Seeds
A light covering of soil is enough to help keep the seeds in place while still allowing light to reach them.
Watering
Water the seeds gently to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Avoid watering too heavily, as this might dislodge the seeds.
Germination
Germination typically takes up to 7 days.
Thinning
Once the seedlings have developed a couple of true leaves, you may need to thin them out to ensure proper spacing, giving each plant room to grow.
Transplanting
If you started your seeds indoors, you can transplant the seedlings outdoors once the threat of frost has passed and the seedlings are 5–10 cm tall.
Maintenance
Continue to water the plants regularly, especially during dry periods. Remove weeds around the plants.
Harvesting
Craspedia flowers typically bloom in late spring to summer. Simply cut the stems and use them for floral arrangements or dried flower crafts.
Saving Seeds
If you want to save seeds for the next growing season, allow some flowers to remain on the plant until they dry out and turn brown. Collect the seeds from these dried flowers and store them in a cool, dry place until you're ready to plant them again.
