How to grow Spinach Renegade Seeds

Spinach Renegade is known for its robust flavor and can be used in a variety of dishes. It thrives in cooler temperatures and is well suited to spring, autumn, and indoor sowing.

When to Sow

Plant the seeds in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked, or in late summer for a fall harvest. For indoor growing, sow January to February and harvest February to April. Outdoors, sow February to April.

Sowing Spinach Seeds

Sow the seeds directly into the soil about 1–2 cm deep, spacing them 5–10 cm apart in rows that are 30–45 cm apart. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.

Germination & Spacing

Spinach Renegade seeds generally germinate within 6–21 days. Thin as required to a minimum of 15 cm apart. For continuous harvest, sow every two weeks for a good supply.

Location & Soil

Choose a location with well-drained, fertile soil and a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. As the seedlings grow, ensure they receive adequate sunlight, ideally 4–6 hours of direct sunlight per day, or provide partial shade if temperatures are high.

Care

Regularly check for pests and diseases, and provide a balanced fertilizer if needed to support healthy growth. Keep the soil evenly moist to reduce stress and help prevent bolting.

Harvesting

Harvest the spinach when the leaves are young and tender, typically when they are about 7–10 cm long. Spinach Renegade plants usually mature in 42 days.

Harvest individual leaves when they are big enough and the whole plant before it goes to seed. Regular harvesting of outer leaves encourages continued growth and helps prevent bolting. Harvest as a whole by cutting off the plant just above ground level.
